The Florida Branch of the International Dyslexia Association (FL IDA) was formed in 1991 with the commitment to increase public awareness about dyslexia and to act as a resource for individuals with dyslexia, their families, and the professionals who serve them.
It is essential that early identification, assessment, and treatment of individuals with language-based learning differences be provided. It is vital that older students and adults with dyslexia also be provided appropriate resources.
The IDA and FL IDA believe that a peer-reviewed, research-validated, multi-sensory, structured, sequential, systematic, cumulative, direct, explicit language approach is the criteria by which the best approaches currently available are defined; however, the IDA and the FL IDA do not endorse specific professionals, speakers, materials, or instructional programs.
FL IDA provides education and information through community outreach activities, regional resource networks, annual conferences in Florida, newsletters, and social media. Membership in the FL IDA is included in the cost of IDA membership.
The International Dyslexia Association (IDA) is dedicated to the study and treatment of dyslexia. The Florida IDA (FL IDA) seeks to educate and empower the people of Florida with knowledge of dyslexia, appropriate assessment for dyslexia, and effective, research-based interventions.
